We decided to not go too over board with flowers because our wedding was outdoors and we were surrounded by lots of nature. We ordered from a local florist in Ukiah, CA called Petals for Your Thoughts. Our main concern was that the flowers were local and in season and organic if and when possible. We kept them to a minimum so as not to waste them.
The vast majority of the flowers were from local California and Oregon growers. The bridal bouquet consisted of in season flowers including deep purple lisianthus, sweet smelling tuberose, white dendrobium orchid, and orange safflower with accents of purple-blue misty and queen anne’s lace.
Seeded eucalyptus was used as a greenery to enhance the flowers and create a nice full base. We steered away from roses which are usually imported and require heavy pesticide use, which are commonly found at weddings. The bride’s bouquet served two purposes as it became the display on the alter after being carried by the bride down the aisle.
The day of the wedding after months of planning, we wanted to be as present as possible and to let ourselves be able to really enjoy the fruits of our labor. About two hours before the ceremony we each received bodywork by Krystalle and Arttemis Keszainn who were guests of the wedding and local residents.
We would recommend this to any couple on their wedding day. Take the time to take care of yourself and you will enjoy your special day even more.
